nola, mardi gras, etc...

well, David has gone back to Australia for work, so the blog will be dormant for a few weeks.

Our next travels will take us to Jackson Hole for skiing and then BVI for sailing (can't wait!!!).

Costa Rica...and our trip is coming to a close

Although the border crossing was a complete mess, the beach totally made up for it...

reunited with Imperial for the first time since 2006 & it was just as I remembered (exactly like Bud Light, lol)

we were treated to another beautiful sunset...so lucky!!

the next morning, we found a few campsite visitors...

after packing up camp, we drove on to the Arenal volcano area. we had trouble finding the campsite we had originally planned upon but really lucked out to find a bed & breakfast on a hill with a room and camp space...the views were breathtaking

our last night was spent at another lodge in the Cloud Forest...not much in the way of photo opportunities, but it was a nice relaxing way to wrap up our expedition.

San Juan del Sur

On to the beautiful surf community of San Juan del Sur...between the pretty beach, cool breezes & cheap provisions, David & I were in heaven!

San Juan del Sur claims to have the 2nd largest Jesus statue in the world (behind Rio de Janeiro), so we hiked to the top of the hill to check it out.

We wrapped up our first evening with a bottle of wine on the beach watching a beautiful sunset.

 Think we'll stay here for a few more days...

into Nicaragua

Drove from Zambrano across the border into Nicaragua and to Esteli for a quick overnight stay, then on to Granada...interesting sites along the way & once we got to Granada.

walked over to the lake front...unfortunately lined with trash :(

visited Mambacho cigar factory & received a lesson in making cigars

weather was mostly rainy, so we didn't have the camera out much to take more pics in Granada...depart for the beach tomorrow though!

Zambrano bound...

Continuing our travels on to the small town of Zambrano...girls in one car, boys in the other :)

Arrived at beautiful Caserio Valuz (a very spacious bed & breakfast) in a hilly/mountainous region of Honduras

Gracias

After Copan, we stopped in Gracias which is a great little colonial style town in Honduras. There are many historic buildings, including churches & fort San Cristobel

We found a fantastic jar shop (Lorendiana) which had tons of sauces & other jarred pickled goods. They also had amazing candies and frozen treats. Highly recommend this stop to anyone finding themselves in Gracias...

This is another old church we saw along the way, but I can't remember the precise town/village name...
